The bronze statue “The Gayer-Anderson Cat” in the British Museum is said to have been made as a tribute to the god Bastet during the New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt, around 600-300 BC. The name comes from the British Army surgeon Robert Glenville Gayer-Anderson (1881-1945), who is familiar with Egyptian culture, donating this statue to the British Museum.
